Summary

Communicate with stakeholders to lead studies, ensuring high quality data is delivered. Complete paperwork to GxP standard ensuring traceability, accountability and data integrity. Support and work in other areas of the department e.g. Non-Human Primates (NHP) colonies, when required. Take part in rota system for weekend and public holiday working and essential out of hours scoring of animals in study. Ensure all assistants and self are wearing suitable protective personal equipment in accordance with departmental and UKHSA Protective Personal Equipment policy Fulfil the requirements of UKHSA values and behaviours commensurate with grade. Comply with all UKHSA policies and procedures. It should be noted that the work of the division is of a confidential nature and must not be communicated to other persons except where required for authorised purposes. You should pursue a programme of continuous professional development in accordance with any relevant professional registration or statutory requirements, while maintaining appropriate awareness of service provider requirements. Essential Criteria Good general education with GCSE (or equivalent) certification in Science/English/Maths Grade C/4 and above. Can demonstrate reliability & the ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with peers, managers, and scientists. Ability to keep detailed and accurate records. Computer literate in Microsoft Office programmes. Available to work weekends / bank holidays. Willingness to undergo vaccinations as determined by work. Understanding of why animals are used for research purposes. Desirable Criteria Experience of working in a high containment facility. Salary Information Civil Service: Higher Executive Officer (HEO) HEO National: £33,422 - £40,731 per annum, pro-rata If you are successful at interview, and are moving from another government department, NHS, or Local Authority, the relevant starting salary principles for level transfers or promotions will apply. Otherwise, roles are offered at the pay scale minimum for the grade, but in exceptional circumstances there may be flexibility if you are able to demonstrate you are already in receipt of an existing, higher salary.Pay increases are through the relevant annual pay award for the role and terms. Location This role is being offered as lab based at Porton Down Lab, Manor Farm Road, Porton Down, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP4 0JG. Security Clearance Level Requirement Successful candidates must pass a basic disclosure and barring security check. Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is Security Clearance. For meaningful National Security Vetting checks to be carried out individuals need to have lived in the UK for a sufficient period of time. You should normally have been resident in the United Kingdom for the last 5 years as the role requires Security Check (SC) clearance.
