About the role
As a Programme Leader in Maths you will deliver high-quality GCSE Maths and Functional Skills provision, ensuring students receive engaging, supportive and effective learning experience that enables them to achieve their full potential. The role focuses on improving attendance, progress and outcomes, with a strong emphasis on securing grade 4+ in GCSE Maths and positive achievement in Functional Skills.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment, using a range of innovative and adaptive approaches suited to students with varying starting points. This includes effective differentiation, to stretch and challenge, and targeted exam preparation strategies to maximise student success.
A key expectation of the role is the rigorous tracking, monitoring and analysis of student progress, using data to identify underperformance and implement timely interventions. You will work closely with curriculum teams and support services to ensure students receive appropriate guidance and pastoral support throughout their programme.
You will contribute to recruitment, initial assessment and induction processes, ensuring students are placed on the right course and fully prepared to succeed. You will also engage in quality assurance processes, including course review, self-assessment and quality improvement planning, to continually enhance teaching and outcomes.
You will maintain high professional standards, meet all awarding bodies, safeguarding and organisational requirements, and actively engage in continuous professional development to ensure your teaching practice remains current, innovative and impactful.
About the person
The successful candidate will have strong subject knowledge in Maths, with the ability to teach GCSE and Functional Skills effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and engage students, with ability to implement effective intervention strategies.
They will have experience of teaching Maths (GCSE and/or Functional Skills) in an FE or secondary setting and supporting students with a range of starting points to achieve positive outcomes. The candidate will also hold:
· Degree (or equivalent) in Maths or a related subject.
· Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards).
· Minimum Level 2 qualification in Maths and English
· Assessor qualification (desirable) or willingness to achieve
