G10643 - Deputy Head of Building Control (Class 3 Specialist)
working location to be discussed at Interview stage.
Main responsibilities
The role involves:
• Managing a team of around eight building inspectors
• Overseeing complex and high-risk building projects
• Ensuring compliance with:
o Building Act 1984
o Building Safety Act 2022
o Building Regulations 2010
• Conducting plan assessments and site inspections
• Liaising with architects, engineers, contractors, and the Building Safety Regulator
• Leading enforcement and regulatory decisions on major schemes
Essential requirements
Candidates are expected to have:
• Level 3 Building Inspector qualification
• Degree in Building Control, Surveying, Construction, Structural Engineering, or related field
• Chartered membership of RICS, CABE, CIOB, or equivalent
• Strong leadership or mentoring experience
• Detailed knowledge of UK building safety legislation
• Experience of managing or mentoring junior staff or large projects within Building Control or a similar specialist technical area with clients and/or customer-facing aspects;
• Ability to motivate staff, set priorities and targets, direct and plan work to provide an integrated service to meet standards and deadlines.
