Summary

We are currently looking for an experienced and driven Production Manager to join our team based at our factory in Shipley, (West Yorkshire).

The Production Manager leads a multi-shift workforce of over 40 employees to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of a stairlift manufacturing facility. This role drives consistent, high-quality production across all shifts by developing teams, standardizing processes, and ensuring seamless handovers to maintain operational continuity.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00am - 4.30pm

Salary : £45,000

Key Responsibilities :

Production & Delivery Strategy: Execute the multi-shift production plan to meet customer demand for custom stairlifts, optimizing capacity, workflow, and labor utilization.
Team Leadership & Development: Oversee a 24-hour (3-shift) operation, coaching Shift Supervisors, setting clear performance standards, and ensuring seamless shift handovers.
Health, Safety & Quality Compliance: Champion a "safety-first" and "right first time" culture, ensuring strict adherence to HSE regulations and safety-critical product standards while actively reducing defects and rework.
Performance & KPI Management: Track, report, and drive accountability across core operational KPIs, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), output, scrap, downtime, and absenteeism.
Continuous Improvement: Identify process bottlenecks and lead targeted improvement initiatives to maximize throughput, minimize waste, and control manufacturing costs (labor and materials).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Supply Chain to ensure material availability, Quality to resolve warranty issues, and Maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

Proven experience managing production in a manufacturing environment
Experience leading multi-shift teams
Background in manufacturing production
Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
Excellent organisational and planning skills in a high-volume environment
Ability to manage complexity across multiple shifts
Data driven decision making (KPIS, OEE, labour metrics)
Strong communication, especially for cross-shift alignment
