An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified, HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with Histology experience and an interest in IT and Digital Pathology to join the Scarborough, York and Hull Pathology Service (SHYPS) network working on the Hull sitein Cellular Pathology..

The Digital and IT Senior Biomedical Scientist role within Cellular Pathology and will play a key role in the delivery, support and continuous improvement of digital and technology services within York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a full time role which will require an element of flexibility on a day to basis.

Interviews for this position will be held in person ONLY at the hospital site. Remote interviews will not be available.

The post holder will lead on the planning, coordination and implementation of digital systems that underpin patient safety and operational efficiency.The post holder will be required to supervise and direct day to day laboratory digital pathology operations and play a key role in troubleshooting, scanner management and workflow prioritisation. Strong supervisory, teaching and team leadership skills are an essential requirement of the post.

Up-to-date knowledge of Histological techniques and procedures as well as a thorough understanding of digital pathology requirements are essential. The post holder will supervise and train Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners and Medical Laboratory Assistants within the Histology laboratory.

They will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures and will be expected to write and update departmental SOPS in line with their scope of practice. The post holder will contribute to the Trust’s digital transformation programme and drive the adoption of innovative technologies in line with the TrustDigital Strategy 2025-2030.

The post holder will work collaboratively with clinical, operational and corporate teams to ensure technology supports excellent patient care and a positive user experience.
