We are looking for an enthusiastic Radiographer to join our friendly CT/MR team, to undertake a variety of CT and MR examinations efficiently and effectively for our patients, adhering to best practice of radiographic technique.
Working within the CT and MR department at the FGH provides excellent opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of CT and MR imaging procedures including trauma, MSK, neurological, vascular, paediatrics and oncology. The department is equipped with a brand new GE Revolution 256 slice scanner installed in April 2026, a GE 16 slice SPECT scanner, a Siemens Aera 1.5T MR scanner and the new Siemens Altea 1.5T installed in 2025 undertaking a wide range of MR imaging
Furness General Hospital is on the doorstep to the Lake District, the Trust is set in some of the most remarkable surroundings in the UK, facilitating an abundance of outdoor activities. There are many OFSTED "Good" and "Outstanding" Primary and Secondary schools near by.
What skills and experience are we looking for?
• Experience working in an NHS hospital
• BSc Radiography or equivalent
• Valid Radiographer registration of the HCPC
• Previous experience of CT and/or MR scanning
• Have successfully completed training to undertake IV cannulation desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
• Expertise to ensure the appropriate triage, booking and examination of patients.
• A high level of professionalism and technical standard of work, complying with relevant Codes of Practice.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
