Summary
The post holder will autonomously undertake assessment and treatment of patients in the Emergency
Department who may present with complex and/or chronic illnesses and/or injury; to determine a
clinical diagnosis, treatment and appropriate discharge as indicated as well as maintaining
comprehensive patient records.
The post holder will also work in conjunction with other members of the multidisciplinary team to form
part of the enhanced streaming team based in the Emergency Department. As a senior decision maker
you will determine the most appropriate place for patients to be streamed by utilising the most
appropriate clinical pathway based on the patient’s clinical need.
The post holder will be a source of clinical expertise to less experienced staff, enhancing the nurses’
skills and knowledge and work in partnership within a multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will contribute to meeting the identified Key Performance Indicators within the time
frames identified.

To independently undertake highly specialized clinical assessments, diagnose, treat and
discharge patients with a wide range of minor illnesses and injuries, including management of
complex cases using evidence based practice
