Summary
We are working on behalf of our client to recruit a highly skilled Garage Manager / MOT Tester for their established workshop in Guildford. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automotive professional to lead a busy and reputable garage known for delivering high-quality service. The successful candidate will play a key role in operational management, team leadership, and vehicle compliance, ensuring excellent customer satisfaction and workshop efficiency.
Benefits for the successful Garage Manager / MOT Tester:
- Competitive basic salary up to £45,000, depending on qualifications and experience
- No weekend work, with working hours from 8:00am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Full-time, permanent contract
- 20 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Opportunities for performance-based earnings and additional responsibilities
- Supportive working environment within a dynamic workshop setting
Duties of the Garage Manager / MOT Tester:
- Manage daily workshop operations, including workflow coordination and supervision
- Book appointments, process invoices, and update customers on vehicle status
- Provide accurate quotations and handle parts ordering to ensure timely workshop procedures
- Oversee workshop team, motivating staff to maintain high productivity and quality standards
- Conduct MOT testing (if possessing an MOT licence) and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations
- Support workshop activities to enhance customer satisfaction and retention
- Maintain a safe and organised workshop environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines
Requirements of the Garage Manager / MOT Tester:
- Proven experience as a Garage Manager, Service Manager, or a similar supervisory role within the automotive industry
- Valid MOT Tester licence or willingness to obtain one (additional £5,000 basic salary for MOT testing capability)
- Strong organisational and leadership skills with the ability to manage workshop workflow effectively
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Full UK driving licence
- Automotive industry knowledge and experience with workshop management systems
