Summary
Central Recruitment is working with one of the UK’s largest not-for-profit housing associations. Their work includes providing people with a range of support and services to help them overcome barriers associated with age, homelessness, disability or health.
Our client is currently recruiting for a Support Worker to work in the Fallowfield area at a service that provides support to young people aged 18 - 25 years.
• 37.5 hours per week
• Monday - Sunday on a rota basis
• Shifts: early, mid and late
• Temporary: approx. 3 months
• £15.26 per hour (£13.62 per hour, with £1.64 holiday pay)
This is a fantastic opportunity to provide valuable support to vulnerable young people.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Hold a caseload of key clients
• Develop bespoke support and move-on plans, involving key stakeholders
• Deliver regular planned reviews of support and risk plans
• Promote opportunities for employment, education and training
• Signpost appropriate external support services
• Assist customers with day-to-day support and tenancy-related matters
• Support customers to be 'tenancy ready' to enable successful move on
• Support financial independence through budgeting plans and maximising income
• Empower customers to move towards self-management of medication
• Lead on support initiatives including group work
• Facilitate the referral process into the service and assess potential new customers
• Report repairs and health and safety concerns
• Prepare rooms as appropriate
• Resolve difficult and challenging situations in a sensitive and informed way
• Develop and maintain local partnerships to provide a holistic range of support
• Carry out day-to-day administration and operational duties
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
• Experience working with young people
• Understanding of barriers faced by vulnerable and diverse customer groups and individuals with complex needs
• Experience working in a care and support environment
• Experience delivering structured support and risk management
• Knowledge of psychological or trauma Informed approaches
• Ability to plan, prioritise, organise tasks to achieve results in challenging environments
• Knowledge of current benefit systems
• Previous experience in positively resolving incidents
• Competent administrative and IT skills
FURTHER REQUIREMENTS:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Current valid right to work in the UK
• Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
• A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
• Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
