A 16-25 Railcard is a national railcard, so you can use it to travel with other train companies in the UK. It’s available to 16 to 25-year-olds and it gives you a 1/3 off travel.

How much is a 16-25 Railcard?
It costs £35 for a one-year membership and £80 for a three-year membership.

What train tickets can I get a discount on?
You can get discounts on many fares across Great Britain. It's great for commuters as you can use it for travel during peak times.
The minimum fare for Anytime Day Travelcards is £22.60. If your journey includes travel with a bus or ferry, the railcard discount may be smaller than 1/3.
Are there any time restrictions?
Your fare must be a minimum of £12 if travelling before 10 am on weekdays (except during July & August).
There's no minimum fare for Advance tickets, or if you’re travelling on weekends and bank holidays!
Day trips
Enjoy 1/3 off Standard Anytime, Off-Peak and Advance tickets, which means you can travel at any time of the day, including peak times, and the earlier you book, the more you can save.
Advance tickets are the cheapest of the three. They’re first come, first served, and you can use your discount on First Class Advance tickets too, all you need to do is just search your journey and we’ll show you our cheapest available ticket.

16-25 railcard terms and conditions
- Age: you must be aged between 16 and 25 years old to purchase the 16-25 Railcard. If you are over 25 and are a full-time student, you may buy the 1-year Railcard with valid proof of full-time study.
- 3-year 16-25 Railcards are available online only and can be purchased before your 24th birthday.
- Non-refundable
- Railcard discounts cannot be used in conjunction with any other discount.
- You must carry your valid Railcard with you on your journey. You must also carry a photocard if you have a physical 16-25 Railcard. When asked by rail staff, you must present a valid ticket, a valid railcard and a valid photocard (if carrying a physical railcard) when you travel.

Renewing 16-25 Railcard
Your railcard will show its expiry date on the cover. When it's time to renew, simply purchase a new 1-year (£35) or 3-year (£80) railcard.

Yes you can, but it's risky as you will need to ensure you have your railcard with you on the day of travel, otherwise you'll be liable for a penalty fare.
You can book train tickets for other people with group railcards (Family and Friends Railcard, Network Railcard and Two Together Railcard) but there are restrictions. If you book for someone else with your own solo railcard, they might be charged a penalty fare for travelling with a discounted ticket without a valid railcard.
