What are Anytime train tickets?
Anytime train tickets are fully flexible rail tickets which let you travel any time between your chosen stations with no time restrictions. To get cheap anytime tickets, simply buy your ticket with a railcard, get on the train and go!

How do Anytime train tickets work?
Anytime train tickets are fully flexible, as you can travel any time of the day, and you can break your journey too! That's right, these tickets let you get off the train along the way and complete your journey later. Make sure to check the ticket conditions when booking first, as you might need to travel on a specific route or train company.
Anytime Day Singles and Anytime Day Returns are good for same-day journeys and can be found on shorter routes.
Anytime Singles and Anytime Returns are available for longer routes, and are good for those who want lots of flexibility, as you can do your outbound journey on a different day, and the return ticket lets you come back within 1 month.
Anytime train ticket types
There are four types of Anytime rail tickets. Unlike other daily tickets like Advance and Off-Peak tickets, there are no time restrictions so you can travel at any time of the day.
Anytime Day Travelcard (London)
The Anytime Day Travelcard is a same-day return train ticket to London and includes unlimited use of the transport network in Greater London. This covers the London Underground, London Overground, almost all other National Rail services, all scheduled London Buses, the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) and the London Tramlink system in south London.

Discounts on Anytime train tickets
Anytime tickets have a higher cost than Advance and Off-Peak tickets due to their flexibility. Here's how you can get cheap Anytime tickets:
- Child Anytime tickets are 50% off
- Save 50% with a 16-17 Railcard or get 1/3 off with a different National Railcard.
- Where there is no Off-Peak ticket type available, GroupSave is available on Anytime Day Singles and Returns. Only after 09:30 on weekdays and at any time on weekends.

Refunds on Anytime train tickets
You can request a refund until 23:59 the day before your booked travel date.
After this, you can still claim up to 28 days after your ticket expires if you didn't travel due to a train delay, cancellation or if an exceptional circumstance such as medical emergency has stopped you from travelling.
There is a £5 refund fee which may be deducted.
If you travelled with an Anytime ticket and your train was delayed by 15 minutes or more, you can claim delay repay compensation.

An Anytime Day Single train ticket is a one way train ticket which allows travel anytime on the date shown on your ticket up to 04.29 am the next day.
An Anytime Return train ticket is the most flexible Anytime ticket. It allows you to travel out on the date shown on the ticket, or within five days, and back at any time within one month of the date shown. All travel must be completed by 04:29 on the morning following the last day of validity of each part of the ticket.
