About this blog

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) is the UK’s national product regulator, within the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). Our primary purpose is to protect people and places from product-related harm, enabling trade and growth by ensuring consumers and businesses can buy and sell products with confidence.

OPSS was established in January 2018 to enforce consumer protection and uphold business confidence, productivity, and growth. We pride ourselves on being a great place to work.

We have colleagues that work in a variety of Civil Service Professions including Analysis, HR, Legal and much more. Our teams are based at our 3 offices in London, Teddington and Birmingham.

Our OPSS blog is where you will find news and information related to our career roles, including insights into what our teams do and our culture. Our Careers site also has more information.

All news about what we are doing to protect people and places from product related harm is shared across our website and social media channels so make sure you follow us on:

We cannot answer direct correspondence on our OPSS blog so if you have a question for OPSS, please email: OPSS.enquiries@businessandtrade.gov.uk
