Sizewell A site

Sizewell A is located on a 13 hectare site adjacent to Sizewell B power station, near Leiston in Suffolk.

More than 15,000 tonnes of crushed concrete from the demolished turbine alternator plinths were transferred to the main construction area at Sizewell C. Read the full story at Sizewell A concrete reused at Sizewell C – GOV.UK

The site is now focussed on reducing hazards, progressing ponds decommissioning and retrieving historical wastes.

Intermediate level radioactive waste from Sizewell A is transferred to the long term storage facility at Bradwell site.

Bradwell site’s care and maintenance phase is being managed by Sizewell A. The team conduct annual maintenance inspections at Bradwell and maintain a 24-hour security presence on site.
