During my working life I was a distribution engineer working for Eastern Electricity Board. However, in 1993 they allowed me a year off to become the National President of the Electrical Power Engineers Association.  During my year we merged with other managerial unions to become the Engineers & Managers Association and have since become Prospect. During that year we were fighting the ‘privatisation’ of the industry and spent much time in and around Whitehall.

Since retirement I have been involved in local government being a member of both parish & district councils. At present I am chairman of the district planning committee, working more hours a week than when I was fully employed!

I have lived all my life in the parish of St. Osyth some four miles across the sea from Bradwell but unfortunately some 58 miles by road.  Hence, I have been very grateful to be able to use virtual platforms for our meetings.
