Settings registered on the Early Years Register will normally be inspected at least once within a 4-year window. We prioritise inspections and/or inspect more frequently if we have concerns. Newly registered settings are inspected within 18 months of the date of their registration. You can read more information about types of inspection and their frequency.

We also carry out compliance inspections of settings registered on the Childcare Register.

We also inspect childminder agencies in line with the latest requirements set out by the Department for Education.
