Requirements
| View and download the technical requirementsCyber Essentials requirements are reviewed and updated regularly to ensure they remain relevant and effective. The requirements for each of the five technical controls are set out in the ‘Requirements for IT infrastructure’ document. |
| Previous technical requirementsApplications started before 27 April 2026 can continue to follow version 3.2 of the technical requirements, which has been in effect since 28 April 2025. This version remains available here and from the Download section. |
Cyber Essentials in supply chains
We are calling on large organisations to better address cyber security risk by developing approaches to improve adoption of Cyber Essentials within their supply chain.
We have designed a ‘Playbook’ to give organisations the resources they need to embed Cyber Essentials in their supply chain.

Free Cyber Liability insurance arranged by IASME
Did you know that any UK based organisation with a turnover under £20m that achieves Cyber Essentials certification (covering their whole organisation), is entitled to free Cyber Liability Insurance, arranged by our Cyber Essentials Delivery Partner, IASME.
The insurance offers a 24hr helpline to report a cyber incident, which will provide crisis management and incident response to the total liability limit of £25,000.
