GCHQ is led by a Director, supported by five Directors General and a Board
Director
GCHQ is led by a Director who is appointed by the Foreign Secretary. They are responsible for the overall running of the organisation. The current Director is Anne Keast-Butler
Directors General
There are five Directors General who are responsible for the main areas of our organisation.
- Director General Intelligence & Effects - responsible for GCHQ's intelligence and effects operations across all five of our mission areas.
- Director General Technology - responsible for GCHQ's technical capability that enables it to deliver its mission and for driving the innovation to meet future technological challenges.
- Director General Strategy - responsible for GCHQ's overarching strategy, our legal and policy compliance, and our corporate functions such as HR and Finance.
- Director General IT - responsible for enabling our mission with world-leading technologies
- CEO NCSC - responsible for the running and delivery of the National Cyber Security Centre which is part of GCHQ.
