Standard: SMBs have arrangements in place to monitor and improve the operation of MAPPA

31.1 All agencies must fulfil their legal obligations under MAPPA and work with each other to do everything that can reasonably be done to prevent individuals from re-offending. The Strategic Management Board (SMB) needs to be able to demonstrate this empirically through performance monitoring and evaluation. To achieve this, areas will need to collect and analyse a range of quantitative and qualitative data, including compliance with the MAPPA Key Performance Indicators (KPI) (see 31.21 below).

31.2 Local MAPPA SMBs are responsible for determining how they will monitor the operation of MAPPA. For example, they may choose to establish a Performance and Quality sub-group to undertake this activity, although other arrangements would be acceptable.

31.3 The SMB will respond to HM Inspectorate inspections related to MAPPA and will make appropriate adjustments.
