1) AI powered content marketing sweep to protect children
Operators are advised that a new compliance check on content marketing is being launched.
On 4 June 2026 the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) published an enforcement notice directed at all gambling businesses.
The notice focuses on its expectations that no content marketing should be of strong appeal to those under 18 years old.
Two people have been arrested following a raid on a suspected illegal gambling den in Manchester city centre.
Greater Manchester Police, Gambling Commission enforcement officials and Manchester City Council Licensing team members conducted the joint operation at a premises in Chester Road on 28 May 2026.
3) Implementation extension for new deposit limit requirements
Operators have been granted more time to prepare for new deposit limit requirements.
In October 2025 the first phase of improvements to tools that help consumers to manage their gambling were introduced in the Remote Technical Standards (RTS) with the second phase due to be introduced on 30 June 2026.
Following stakeholder feedback, the Commission has extended the implementation period of the second phase to 30 September 2026 to allow for further operator technical development time.
On 4 June 2026 we published two sets of official statistics relating to data collected between September 2025 and January 2026.
The first is our quarterly industry statistics, compiled from data submitted through regulatory returns for the period October 2025 to December 2025, providing an overview of the customer-facing sectors of the gambling market.
Secondly, we have published the latest wave of data from the Gambling Survey for Great Britain (GSGB), Wave 4, September 2025 to January 2026. The publication focuses on participation in gambling activities, reasons for gambling and how people feel about gambling.
We are pleased to have appointed three new members to our Digital Advisory Panel (DAP).
Mei Chen, Sarah Hennessy, and Harry Harcus have joined DAP and will advise on ways to manage new risks that may come from online gambling platforms.
The panel’s expertise helps us to adapt to the ways the sector is changing and helps us make sure our consumer protections are fully effective as the market evolves.
