Staff engagement during Local Government Reorganisation (LGR)Thursday 17 September 2026, LondonJoin this immersive, in‑person workshop designed to support communications and change professionals in delivering effective staff engagement and internal communications during Local Government Reorganisation (LGR). LGR presents a period of significant change and uncertainty for council staff, with implications for roles, structures and organisational identity. This practical, one‑day session will provide an overview of internal communications approaches throughout LGR, combining best practice with insight from areas that have already undergone reorganisation. Participants will explore how people and organisations respond to change, using recognised frameworks such as “Inform, Involve, Inspire”, and learn how to apply these in a local government context. Through facilitated discussion and hands-on exercises, attendees will develop tailored approaches to staff engagement, including audience segmentation, core messaging and structured communication planning. The workshop also offers the opportunity to share challenges, learn from peers and refine plans with expert guidance. The workshop will be delivered by experienced practitioners Georgia Turner, an LGA Associate and former Director of Communications & Marketing at Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council, and Alan Oram, Founder and Director of engagement agency Alive with Ideas.
