In this gallery-based session students apply their skills as young mathematicians to spaces in, and objects at, the British Museum.

Inspired by the Museum building and collection objects on display, students will explore number, geometry, measures and data as they calculate answers, make estimates and solve problems.

The session is led by a member of Museum staff. At the end of the session, activity sheets will be distributed for the students to continue working as mathematicians with their teacher.

Session outline

KS2

Using mathematic processes relating to numbers, measures, geometry and data, these gallery sessions feature engaging numeracy challenges which support students to apply their mathematical skills in the real world. All resources needed in the session are provided by the Museum and you are welcome to take photographs of your students at work as a record of your visit.
