Biography

The Rt Hon Baroness Smith of Malvern was appointed Minister of State jointly in the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department for Education on 21 July 2026.

She was previously Minister of State (Minister for Skills) in the Department for Education between 6 July 2024 and 21 July 2026. This role also became part of the Department for Work and Pensions on 6 September 2025.

She was also previously Minister of State (Minister for Women and Equalities) between 4 March 2025 and 21 July 2026, and Government Spokesperson for Equalities between 8 October 2024 and 4 March 2025.
