School children go free in term time

Explore the former RAF fighter station that was used during both the First and Second World Wars. IWM Duxford is home to an impressive collection of over two hundred aircraft as well as tanks, military vehicles and maritime craft. A visit here lifts history out of the textbooks and brings their classroom learning to life.

A Meet and Greet service delivered daily by a specially trained group of IWM volunteers will greet you upon arrival. You will be provided with essential practical information for your visit, and they will introduce you and your students to IWM Duxford through an object on display, sparking historical inquiry, and an understanding of causes and consequences, chronology and historical significance.

Your Visit and What to See

A self-guided visit to IWM Duxford is suitable for school groups aged 7+ with an average visit time of 3-4 hours.

IWM Duxford's exhibitions are undergoing lots of exciting changes and as a result, some spaces will be temporarily closed and some items will be moved to new spaces. Keep an eye on our webpages and for up to date information on What's Here ahead of your visit. Our Meet & Greet volunteers will also be happy to help you on the day!

Please note, Land Warfare closed permanently on 1 June 2025.
