Visitors experienced frontline views and picnics at Duxford Flying Evening 2025.

Relax with friends and family within the grounds of Duxford's historic airfield, enjoying delicious food and drink from our pop-up stalls, and unwinding to sounds from our vintage gramaphone DJ before settling down for a memorable evening of flying. 

Returning for another summer, this popular evening event also offers photographers a unique opportunity to capture IWM Duxford at it's most atmospheric.

From the warm golden glow of golden hour to the drama of dusk and night-time pyrotechnics, capture incredible close-up and flying shots of an array of aircraft.

Tickets include entry to IWM Duxford's permanent exhibitions and hangars.

Airborne Pyrotechnics

Flying a pair of Grob 109b motor gliders, Airborne Pyrotechnics are set to leave 'remarkable pictures in the night sky' as they perform aerobatics over IWM Duxford at twilight.

Douglas A-26C Invader

Built in 1945, A-26 'Miss Eloise II' is a veteran of the Korean war, where it was the personal aircraft of 730th (Long Beach) Bomb Squadron Commander, Charles H. Howe- the aircraft named after his wife.

Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17F (Lim-5)

Made famous during the Vietnam War as an adversary to the American F-4 Phantom II, the MiG-17F could outmanoeuvre many supersonic jets of the era.

A licensed version of the Soviet MiG-17F, this Polish-produced Lim-5 aircraft represents the only airworthy example of this type in Europe.

The Van’s RV-8 is a high-performance, tandem two-seat kit-built aircraft known for its fighter-like feel, superb handling, and full aerobatic capability.

All flying is subject to weather and serviceability of the aircraft.

Practical information

Whether you're attending Duxford Flying Evening for the first time or joining us again, here is everything you need to know for a relaxed evening out.

    Getting here

    • Site open from 10am to 4pm, but you will need to buy a normal Duxford entrance ticket if you wish to visit before 5pm.
    • IWM Duxford is near Cambridge.
    • Visit our getting to IWM Duxford page for information on travelling by car or public transport.
    • There is no free shuttle bus from Cambridge station or Trumpington park and ride for this event.

    Parking

    • Parking is available on site. You do not need to book parking.

    Accessibility

    What to bring

    • Summer evenings can get cool, so maybe bring a warm layer.
    • You're welcome to bring a chair or picnic blanket, or even a windbreak as long as it’s properly secured.
    • Check the local weather forecast and bring a raincoat and brolly if you need to .
