Services should signpost fathers to this information where antenatal screening shows the expectant mother is a carrier for sickle cell, thalassaemia or another haemoglobin variant. It describes:
- haemoglobin disorders
- the screening test
- the range of possible results
- the possible risks of the baby inheriting a condition
- the choices that the baby’s parents can make
