Andy Slaughter MP

Biography
Andy Slaughter was appointed Solicitor General on 21 July 2026. He is the MP for Hammersmith and Chiswick, and has been an MP continually since 5 May 2005.
Solicitor General
The Solicitor General supports the Attorney across a range of responsibilities. This includes:
- Responsibility for matters delegated by the Attorney General, including deputising for the Attorney at the Parliamentary Business and Legislation Cabinet Committee
- Providing support to the Attorney General in their superintendence of the Government Legal Department, the Crown Prosecution Service, HM Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate and the Serious Fraud Office
- Supporting the Attorney General in their public interest functions
- Promoting the rule of law at home and internationally
