Mike Pigott
Biography
Mike is Executive Director, Sites and Operations for Nuclear Waste Services and Nuclear Site Licence Duty Holder for the Low Level Waste Repository. He is responsible for the safe, secure and environmentally compliant operation and long-term stewardship of the site, and holds senior leadership responsibilities across nuclear and environmental safety, security governance and strategic waste management.
Mike brings more than 30 years’ experience in high-hazard and highly regulated industries, spanning international energy, UK rail infrastructure and the civil nuclear sector. His nuclear career spans new build, operational reactor sites, defuelling, reprocessing, decommissioning, waste management and disposal.
During his career, Mike has held senior roles with Nuclear Waste Services, KBR/Sellafield, Rolls-Royce, Horizon Nuclear Power, Turner & Townsend, the Office for Nuclear Regulation and Magnox. His experience includes leadership from the perspectives of nuclear site licensee and operator, regulator, consultant and advisor, developer and major programmes.
