Proposed discontinuation of the ‘Air passenger experience of security screening’ publication

The Department for Transport is undertaking a review of the ‘Air passenger experience of security screening’ publication to ensure that it continues to represent an effective and proportionate use of public resources. We want to provide users of this publication with an opportunity to share their views on the value, relevance and ongoing need for the publication. We are interested in understanding whether you use the information contained in this publication and whether its discontinuation would impact your work or organisation.

Latest aviation statistics

Aviation statistics provides information on activity at UK airports, passengers, volume of freight handled, punctuality, UK airlines, major international airports, casualties caused by aviation and air proximity incidents, passenger experience of air travel, security screening and emissions from aviation.

Most of these statistics are collected by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and other organisations external to the department.

Aviation statistics information on current and previous air passenger experience statistics are available.

Aviation emissions statistics methodology

The Department for Transport has published a technical note comparing publicly available methodologies for estimating UK aviation emissions.

Alongside UK official territorial greenhouse gas emissions statistics published by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, there are several other sources available to the public. This note is designed to increase transparency around how aviation emissions are calculated.

About the aviation statistics data and reports

All of the aviation statistics published are official statistics. The department’s view is that these statistics, which are not designated as accredited official statistics, are robust and have been produced to a suitable standard.
