Tring: Celebrating Dorothea Bate Family Day

Celebrate the life and legacy of fossil hunter Dorothea Bate in a fun-filled family day.

Explore our galleries and grounds through hands-on activities inspired by fossil hunter Dorothea Bate’s remarkable work.

Dorothea was a pioneering scientist and our Officer in Charge at Tring from 1948–1951. Come along for a fun-filled family day at the Museum with trails and activities for all ages, inspired by her love of the natural world.

Join story time with Dorothea and have your own opportunity to dig for fossils, look for tiny hippos, elephants and even a giant dormice.

These activities aren’t ticketed but we recommend you book a free Museum entry ticket in advance so you don’t miss out.
