About this event
This is the first in our series of webinars on how to understand your professional identity. In session one, two of our course tutors will introduce strategies and tools to help you develop as an English language teacher. The second session focuses on how and why focusing on our own well-being actually improves our learners’language skills. These practical webinars are interactive and designed for English language teachers of all levels of experience.

Session information
In this practical introduction to the professional practice ‘Understanding my professional identity’, our course tutors will explore what support exists to help you develop as an English teacher. Drawing from their own experience and resources from our website, they will share strategies for setting career goals, give ideas for staying up to date in language education and discuss how collaboration can help you grow as a teacher.

Session information
Teaching is demanding, and working conditions directly affect the classroom. This webinar explores how teacher well-being and daily choices shape student learning. Using real classroom examples, you will see how stress influences feedback, interactions and classroom climate. You will learn to view the classroom as an interactive system where small changes in tasks or behaviour can boost learner participation without adding to your workload. This session is suitable for English language teachers of all age groups.
About the speakers
Nelson Arditto has taught primary, secondary and adult learners for nearly 30 years in Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Currently, he’s based in Spain and is a teacher educator on face-to-face and online teacher training courses. Nelson is also a mentor of teacher educators and an instructional designer, as well as being a current tutor on the Courses for teachers Facebook group.
Sirin Soyoz, from Turkey, is a teacher educator, researcher and online community coordinator who has worked with teachers and teacher educators from around the world. She also has teaching experience across primary, secondary and higher education. Sirin is also a tutor on the Courses for teachers Facebook group, and you may recognise her as a regular host of the Webinars for Teacher Educators!
Ana Jereb is a teacher educator and well-being coach for English language teachers. She works with teachers and teacher educators internationally, supporting them to teach effectively while maintaining sustainable professional practices. Her interests include classroom interaction, teacher well-being and how learning emerges from everyday teaching decisions.

Our webinars are free. They take place in Zoom events. Click the ’Register to join us on Zoom’ button to register to join live. You can also watch the event on our Facebook page or YouTube channel.
- Webinar recordings
All TeachingEnglish webinars are recorded, and you will find links to the recordings under the session information on this page between 24 and 48 hours after the live webinar has ended. You can also find the videos on the TeachingEnglish YouTube channel. Recordings will be available to watch for a minimum of six months and up to one year after the live event has ended.
- Certificates and handouts
Certificates of attendance are available for all attendees. You will receive a ‘Thank you for attending’ email after the webinar if you registered and watched on Zoom. You should receive this within 24 hours of the live event.
You should download the certificate to your computer. Once the certificate is saved to your computer, open it and type your name on the certificate. We recommend using Google Chrome or Internet Explorer to do this. You cannot do this from a mobile device.
A handout for each session will be provided with useful links and resources related to the session. You can download the handout from this page after the event.
