Beverley Tew CMG

Biography
Beverley Tew is the Lead Non-Executive Director at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. She was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in September 2020 and as Lead Non-Executive Director in June 2022.
Beverley is an experienced business leader, chief financial officer and commercial leader with a strong track record of delivering transformation in the public and private sector. She has held senior executive roles at Burberry (Finance Vice President) and the BBC (Group CFO). She began her career at Ernst & Young (EY).
Beverley has also worked in the international development sector for over 20 years. She is a Trustee and Chair of the Audit Committee of Plan International (UK), a humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. Prior to that she was a Trustee and Chair of the Audit Committee of BBC Children in Need.
Beverley works as a commercial advisor to the Cabinet Office in the digital sector (Crown Representative), a trustee at English Heritage and a lay member of Council at Durham University
Previous non-executive roles have included Circle Health Group, BAFTA, Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), and the European Broadcasting Union.
She was awarded the Companion of the Order of St Michael & St George (CMG) in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours List for services to international development, commerce and charity.
Lead Non-Executive Director
Board members give corporate leadership to the FCDO by ensuring that the department meets the international policy priorities, Public Service Agreements targets and service delivery targets set by ministers. The role of a Non-Executive Board Member is to provide an effective and objective challenge to the rest of the Board and officials.
