The data uses the following terms:

| BRMA |
An area relating to access to facilities and services containing a variety of residential lettings across which Local Housing Allowances are determined |
| CAT A |
A dwelling where the tenant has exclusive use of only one bedroom with shared use of other facilities |
| CAT B |
A dwelling where the tenant has exclusive use of only one bedroom with exclusive use of other facilities |
| CAT C |
A dwelling where the tenant has the use of only 2 bedrooms |
| CAT D |
A dwelling where the tenant has the use of only 3 bedrooms |
| CAT E |
A dwelling where the tenant has the use of only 4 bedrooms |
