  1. This MIN has been extended until the 10 January 2023, this aligns with the new STCW Regulations coming into force, at which point this MIN will be replaced by MSN 1904.

  2. The expiration date for this MIN has been extended to 31st December 2022, awaiting the publishing of the Merchant Shipping (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) Regulations 2022. No other information has been changed.

  3. This MIN has been extended until 1 October 2022 to provide clarity on the Engineer Officer Small Vessel Certificate of Competency requirements. No other changes have been applied to this document. After the 1 October 2022, this MIN will be replaced by MIN 524 (Amendment 1) to update the Engineer Small Vessel requirements in line with the Merchant Shipping (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) Regulations 2022.

This MIN details the requirements relating to the certification structure and examination and training requirements for engineer officers wanting to work on Fishing Vessels, Yachts, Tugs, Workboats, Standby, Seismic Survey, Oceanographic Research Vessels and Government Patrol Vessels.

This notice should be read with MSN 1857, MSN 1859 and MSN 1865.

This MIN has been extended and expires 10 January 2023.
