GDS is supporting the National Digital Twin Programme, which has been developing the foundations needed for secure, trusted data sharing across organisational boundaries.

CustomerFirst, a new unit in the Government Digital Service, is working with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to explore improvements to the end-to-end customer journey for the Drivers Medical service, while continuing to prioritise road safety and accessibility for everyone who needs them.

CustomerFirst is a new unit in GDS, set up to explore fresh ways of working in government and modernise public services. The unit launched in January 2026. This blog post shares insight into the work so far and plans for the 2 years ahead.
