Tag data recorded on bass between 2015 and 2018 with releases off the coast of Lowestoft, Liverpool Bay and in the English Channel

Description

Electronic tag data recorded on bass between 2015 and 2018 with releases off the coast of Lowestoft, Liverpool Bay and in the English Channel. Bass were internally tagged with data storage tags (CTL G5) in UK waters, with depth and temperature as the primary parameters logged (stored as csv files). Depth and temperature were then used to estimate most probable locations by day for each individual with sufficient data.

Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) were internally tagged with Cefas G5 tags recording depth at temperature at a minimum of 10 minute resolution. Methods and any processing and cleaning of the data are outlined in Wright et al. 2024 (Seasonal migrations of the European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax L.) in UK and surrounding waters | Movement Ecology | Full Text (biomedcentral.com) and Goossens et al. 2024 Elucidating the migrations of European seabass from the southern north sea using mark-recapture data, acoustic telemetry and data storage tags | Scientific Reports.

Tags were recovered by fishers and members of the public via beach returns in the North West Atlantic.
