Summary

About the Role

We are creating a new team of Peripatetic Learning Disability Specialists who will cover all of our sites and who are experienced practitioners from Day Services, Careers or Qualified Teachers (upper secondary SEND or FE) backgrounds. Our 'Peris' will provide sessional cover for both planned and unplanned Staff absences at any of our sites and will be part of our Volunteering and Projects Team which delivers sessions across the organisations.

The sessions are designed to teach independent living and employment skills, health & wellbeing management to adults with intellectual (learning) disability and are ASDAN accredited. These are adults with conditions from birth impacting cognitive development with high associated sensory and physical co-morbidity. Conditions such as Down's, cerebral palsy, Sotos and Williams.

Opportunities for career progression at Journey allow Staff to either progress to team leadership and middle management roles or to specialize further within our Projects Team. Our Projects are funded on short cycles, from 1 - 3 years, enabling us to provide innovation and extended opportunities.

Contracts are offered on a permanent basis.

The Charity operates between 08.30 – 16.30 from Monday – Thursdays and 08.30 – 16.00 on Fridays. All Staff who work for six hours continuously must take half an hour for lunch daily.
