Summary
Role Description
- The role of the Assistant Accountant supports the Finance team in:
- Ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes.
- Providing business partnering to the groups Business Units (divisions) and overseas subsidiaries.
- Achieving compliance in its statutory requirements.
- Responding to the requirements of various business stakeholders.
Key responsibilities and tasks
- Lead for overseas subsidiaries:
- Accounts Receivables ledger – including reconciliations, invoicing (and credit note issuing).
- Accounts Payables data entry – including processing of purchase ledger invoices, credit card records and expense claims.
- Cash transaction processing – posting and allocation of cash receipts and payments.
- Bank reconciliations.
Assist with:
- Production of performance indicator reports.
- Month end accounting beyond trial balance – depreciation, accruals, prepayments, etc.
- Valuation of stock, monitor (and adjust) stock adjustments and stock variance analysis.
- Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations – producing associated support.
- Support for overseas subsidiaries in respect of financial matters to trial balance.
- Despatch liaison, ensuring timely movement of goods sold and invoicing.
- Credit control and debt collection.
- Intercompany transactions between all group companies
General:
- Entry of ad hoc general ledger journals.
- Multi-currency transactions.
- Responding to departmental enquiries.
- Ad hoc analysis and project work
- Other associated financially related administrative and clerical tasks.
- Guidance and training of colleagues, as and when required.
- Co-operate fully with the company regarding all H&S matters and be aware of the importance of complying with H&S Policy to ensure a safe workplace and maintain the integrity of the environment (See P-HS-17175).
- Any additional work identified as necessary in the operation of the business.
