Summary
Music Teacher – Long-term temporary and ongoing role from September 2026
This long-term opportunity is based within a secondary school where leaders have established a calm, purposeful learning environment and clear expectations for behaviour and achievement. Teaching is well structured, relationships between staff and pupils are positive, and pupils respond well to consistent routines and high expectations. Duties as Music Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging Music lessons that inspire creativity and musical understanding
- Teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, following the school’s curriculum and schemes of work
- Encourage pupil participation, confidence, and enjoyment in practical and theoretical music
- Maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment in line with school behaviour policies
- Assess pupil progress and provide constructive feedback to support development
- Support extracurricular music activities where required, such as ensembles or performances
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the wider arts provision
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote pupil wellbeing at all times
Ideal Music Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Music within a secondary school setting
- Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Music education
- Ability to engage and motivate pupils of varying abilities
- Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
- Reliable, adaptable, and committed to a long-term temporary role
- A professional approach and strong communication skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
- Must be able to teach GCSE
