Due to growth and development, Ty Gwyn School are looking to appoint a knowledgeable and skilled Higher-Level Teaching Assistant(s) (HLTA) with a passion for working with pupils with Additional Leaning Needs. The post is temporary to cover the maternity leave of the permanent post holder and will continue until August 2027, or the resumption/resignation of the permanent post holder, whichever is sooner.Ty Gwyn supports pupils aged 3-19 with autism and /or profound and complex needs. The school is federated with Riverbank and Woodlands High School within the Western Learning Federation.

• Develop and implement a diverse range of inclusive activities tailored to the needs of pupils with a wide range of abilities, including those with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism and severe learning difficulties (SLD). These activities may form part of the schools planning, preparation and assessment (PPA) time for teachers.
• Work closely with teachers & senior leaders to ensure teaching assistants employed on a part time 3hr a day role are:
o Supported to access information and professional learning
o Effective in directly or indirectly supporting the provision of high-quality learning experiences
o Supporting the needs of pupils including an emphasis on postural management and physical activities
• Drive the 14-19 pathways programme by creating opportunities for pupils to access internal and community facilities, engage in qualifications, and participate in transition activities that promote lifelong health and fitness.
• Coordinate extracurricular clubs and activities, including lunchtime sessions ensuring a varied and engaging offer for all pupils.
• Liaise with local sports clubs, community organisations, and external agencies to create partnerships that enhance opportunities available to our Learners.
• Lead training sessions for staff to build capacity and confidence in delivering inclusive sports activities.
• Collaborate with local authorities, health professionals, and other external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to meeting the needs of pupils with ALN.
• Establish strong partnerships with local colleges, businesses, and community organisations to create opportunities for work experience, accredited courses, and other enrichment activities.
• Support the transition of pupils between educational phases (e.g., primary to secondary, school to post-19 settings), ensuring a smooth and supportive experience for both pupils and families.
• Maintain and develop specialist areas and rooms across the school including supporting hydropool pool plant operation
• Work with senior leaders and other key staff to monitor and improve staff wellbeing
• Support with embedding positive behavior support across the school using proactive approaches but also supporting reactively to provide additional capacity and skill where appropriate.
