Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

• Strong subject knowledge in mathematics, typically supported by a degree in mathematics or a related field.


• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards an approved teaching qualification such as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).


• Experience planning and delivering engaging mathematics lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and, where applicable, Key Stage 5.


• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, including high achievers and those requiring additional support.


• Strong classroom management skills to create a positive, safe, and productive learning environment.


• Experience assessing student progress, analysing attainment data, and using assessment outcomes to inform teaching strategies.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building effective relationships with students, parents, carers, and colleagues.


• Knowledge of the UK mathematics curriculum, examination specifications, and assessment requirements, including those of organisations such as AQA, Pearson Edexcel, and OCR.


• Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, equality, diversity, and inclusion, with an understanding of relevant school policies and statutory guidance.


• Willingness to participate in continuing professional development (CPD), departmental initiatives, extracurricular activities, and wider school responsibilities.
