An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the experienced and friendly Acute Oncology team on Ward 303 at the Royal Derby Hospital.
Ward 303 comprises of 32 beds. We receive patients from Combined Triage Assessment Unit, Emergency department, Medical Assessment Unit and specialist’s clinics.
Applicants will need to be highly compassionate, caring, dynamic, motivated, reliable and flexible, preferably with some experience of Oncology but this is not essential. Excellent communication and organisational skills are key, as is a commitment to delivering quality care to our patients.
We have our own clinical educators in CDCS who provides an excellent ongoing training package for all further development needs with the specialist area of oncology.
The successful applicant will be working both as part of a friendly nursing team, assessing planning and implementing high quality nursing care to acutely unwell adults suffering with cancer. Applicants will work 12.5 hour shifts and rotating on days and nights. Weekends and bank holidays are also included.
Applicants should hold an NMC registration in Adult Nursing, alongside relevant experience. You will be expected to either hold the SACT qualification or be willing to work towards this as Chemotherapy delivery is a key element to this role.
We will support you through a wide range of in-house study days and training, we work very closely with our clinical educators to enhance learning.

• Care of medical and Oncology Patients inc. Administering Chemotherapy
• Medicine administration
• Risk assessing
• Safeguarding
• Family centred care
• Emotional support to Patients and Families
• End of Life care specialist Nursing care bespoke to oncology
