Crynodeb

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is recruiting Band 5 Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) to join Leicester Royal Infirmary Trauma Theatres and Leicester General Hospital Elective Theatres.

At both sites, you’ll work in a dynamic, fast‑paced trauma, emergency and elective theatre environment, supporting anesthesia for complex scrub and anesthetic time‑critical cases, ideal for those who thrive under pressure and want to develop high‑level theatre skills.

At LRI vacancies are within Trauma Theatres, and at LGH, vacancies are within Elective Theatres and emergency services, including Orthopaedics, Urology, Gynaecology, Obstetrics and General Surgery, offering exposure to a wide range of planned surgical specialties.
Both sites offer excellent development opportunities, supported by a dedicated Education Team and clinical skills supervisors, with clear pathways for learning and career progression.

Applicants must be NMC‑registered nurses or HCPC‑registered ODPs, with theatre experience essential and a recognised Anesthetics qualification required for nurses is desirable. Student ODP applications are welcome. Registration details will be checked as part of the recruitment process.

• Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
