Trillium Compact and Pegasus Introduction
The Trillium Compact seismometer and Pegasus digital recorder together make up SEIS-UK's urgency pool, which are reserved solely for urgent loans under exceptional circumstances. More information on urgent equipment loans and how to apply can be found here.
SEIS-UK maintains 20 pairs of Trillium Compacts/Pegasus recorders, as well as a variety of ancillary equipment to power, deploy and perform data recovery with. The Pegasus digital recorder is designed for rapid deployments, with the primary field interface via an IOS/Android app; and quick retrieval of data using the Data Harvester, which allows one month of data to be downloaded in less than 10 seconds.
Much of the information presented in this page is from Nanometrics.

Deployment options
There are several deployment options available for the Trillium Compact and Pegasus system, depending on your power requirements for the system. The diagrams below briefly outline the options available. Contact SEIS-UK for further information.
Solar panels and Pegasus battery used
SEIS-UK can provide Pegasus Smart Batteries for deployments. The Pegasus battery is a 14.4V, 216Wh ruggedized lithium ion battery pack, which can provide a minimum of 15 days continuous operation to the Pegasus and Trillium Compact system. Regulators and solar panels are provided to allow for longer periods of operation. In this setup, a hole is augured for the Trillium Compact, with the Pegasus, regulator and Pegasus battery deployed in a battery box in a shallow pit on the surface near to a solar panel and GPS stake.

Solar panels and car battery used
If preferred, users can supply their own batteries (e.g. a car battery) for their deployments. This setup is essentially the same as above, replacing the Pegasus battery with a car battery; a hole is augured for the Trillium Compact, with the Pegasus, regulator and car battery deployed in a battery box in a shallow pit on the surface near to a solar panel and GPS stake.

Ultra-rapid deployment - no solar panels
The ultra-rapid deployment method uses the power from the Pegasus battery only and is therefore limited to a few weeks of recording, however it is ideal for very short-term deployments as there is minimal equipment and site preparation required. This method uses the internal Pegasus GPS, meaning that no external antenna and stake is needed. In this setup, two holes are augured; one for the Trillium Compact and the second for a deployment tube which is a ~60cm long plastic tube designed to house the Pegasus and Pegasus battery. The deployment tube lid is exposed at the surface so that the internal GPS in the Pegasus can get a clear view of the sky and to allow for easy access to the Pegasus for servicing.

Shipping information
The Trillium Compact and Pegasus are generally packed together with cables and other peripherals in their own transit cases, which can be carried or wheeled along for easy transportation. The approximate weight of the full shipping case is 15kg and the dimensions are 170 x 1010 x 420 mm. The contents and weight of the shipping case will vary slightly depending on the deployment method of the project (as outlined above), however SEIS-UK can provide more information upon request.
