Proposed discontinuation of the ‘Air passenger experience of security screening’ publication
The Department for Transport is undertaking a review of the ‘Air passenger experience of security screening’ publication to ensure that it continues to represent an effective and proportionate use of public resources. We want to provide users of this publication with an opportunity to share their views on the value, relevance and ongoing need for the publication. We are interested in understanding whether you use the information contained in this publication and whether its discontinuation would impact your work or organisation.

Air passenger experience of security screening (AVI05 series)
AVI0501 release
The Air passenger experience of security screening: 2025 publication was released prior to the CAA’s annual Departing Passenger Survey reports, which contain information on air passenger characteristics.
To avoid pre-empting the CAA’s 2025 data release, we have delayed the publication of table AVI0501. The 2025 data edition of table AVI0501 will be released in December 2026 alongside the AVI01 to AVI04 series data tables.
We can confirm that passenger characteristics at the survey airports were broadly similar to previous years, so the absence of 2025 data in AVI0501 until December should not affect interpretation of the other AVI05 series data tables.
