We are inviting submissions from licensees for the next AI Reg Lab on Wednesday 25 November 2026.

The AI Reg Lab is a table-top exercise that provides applicants with:

  • a valuable opportunity to test our current ethical AI use in the energy sector  guidance and broader energy regulatory framework against real or hypothetical AI uses
  • the chance to explore potential risks and impacts of the AI use; and
  • a guided discussion of the regulatory implications of AI use with Ofgem’s AI regulatory specialists and an independent expert panel.

Theme

The November 2026 AI Reg Lab will focus on agentic AI use in the energy sector that could have regulatory implications, particularly where systems can act autonomously, interact with other systems, and operate at speed and scale.

Who should take part

Energy sector licensees (who may apply with their innovation partners).

How to take part

We welcome submissions on a rolling basis for future AI Reg Labs via the AI Reg Lab submission form.

To be considered for participation in the 25 November 2026 AI Reg Lab, submissions must be submitted by 11.59pm on Wednesday 21 October 2026.
